Dr.
Jay T. Frazier
Bro. Jay was born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. at age
20 and fought for our country in the Vietnam War.
Afterward, he returned to Kingsport and attended East
Tennessee State University with a major in history.
The
Lord saved Bro. Jay in 1970, and he then became a
faithful member of Temple Baptist Church under the
leadership of Dr. William Pennell. His ministry began
as a church bus captain, visitation director, youth
director, and later assistant pastor. He attended
Liberty University in Lynchberg, Virginia and later
obtained a doctor's degree from Covington Theological
Seminary.
In
June of 1973 he married Claudia Robinette, also of
Kingsport, Tennessee and member of Temple Baptist
Church.
In
February of 1974 they moved to Bristol, Tennessee to
serve at Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church, under the
leadership of Pastor Willard Tallman. Bro. Jay held
the positions of bus/visitation director and
assistant pastor.
In
December of 1974 Bro. Jay was called to a senior
pastor position at Grace Baptist Church in Belleville,
Michigan. In February of 1976 Bro. Jay and
Claudia had their first child, Jessica. In February of
1977 they welcomed their second daughter, Jennifer.
Over
13 years, having inherited over $400,000 of church
debt, Bro. Jay was able to see the Lord miraculously
provide time after time, and eventually saw the church
completely pay off their debt before resigning in
1987.
In
May of 1987 he accepted the senior pastor position at
Calvary Baptist Church in Cocoa, Florida. His family
also resides in the surrounding Cocoa, Florida area.
Both daughters are now married and attend and serve
the Lord with their parents at Calvary Baptist
Church.
